Julieta Alejandra Brambila, Ph.D., is a transwoman and media scholar. She is an Assistant Professor at the Communication Department, Universidad de las Américas Puebla in Mexico. She is a Summer Research Scholar with Center for Media at Risk, Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania. Her research addresses: Comparative Political Communication, Press Freedom, Antipress Violence and Journalists’ Safety. About these topics, she has published over 12 journal articles and book chapters, and delivered over 45 conferences and talks in Japan, Europe and the Americas. She is a regular contributor to several media outlets both in English and Spanish.
